From S. Africa: "Luxury tent" is not an oxymoron

We are in the Thorny Bush Game Reserve near Kruger National Park, staying at Chapungu Lodge in a luxury tent which, I'm happy to report, turns out not to be an oxymoron.
This may be my very favorite of any place I've ever stayed, anywhere in the world. Each tent is set by itself for privacy in amongst the bush and has canvas sides on a log frame, wood floors, gorgeous furniture, air conditioning, HAIR DRYERS (!), sherry for evening, a lovely bathroom with double sinks...all the amenities and immaculate attention to detail. The staff is fabulous and the food splendid. We've been out on four game drives so far and have seen the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant). Also wildebeest, impala, hippo, zebra, giraffe...and the list goes on. All out in the open, some as close as five feet from our jeep, and not in a cage. It's remarkable and thrilling. When I get home I'll write more details and post some spectacular pictures.
Time for a nap now before our next drive.

I am reliving my South African experiences with every posting and it's so exciting and so is the fact that you are having such a fabulous time, it warms the cockles of my heart, what the hell is a "cockle" anyway?

I have actually found everything in the office I have needed while you've been gone and the few days I have been home which is only another great testament to your fab' organizational skills. In Calgary now where the temp' is 10 below, brrrrrrr. Enjoy! Enjoy... my Sam
